Gudalur — our home in the Nilgiris.
The problems stayed. The young left.
Until Gudalur said: enough.
Step by step, the fixes became permanent.
Not by someone else — by us.
This is how a change begins.
Citizen action · Gudalur, The Nilgiris
Voice of Gudalur is a citizen initiative. It does not file anything, represent anyone, or speak for any government office. What it does is hold two grievance IDs in the open, publish only what those records actually say, and point you at the official channels you can use yourself — in that order.

Two official channels, in the order that matters: call so you hear where the grievance stands, then write so there is a dated record of your follow-up. Both are the government's own channels. Neither is ours.
Official step
Tamil Nadu CM Helpline
Toll free, 7 AM to 10 PM, Monday to Sunday, including government holidays. This is the one channel that can tell you the status of a grievance filed by any method — including one filed by someone else, including one filed years ago. Have the grievance number ready, and the mobile number that was used at the time if you have it.
Source: Tamil Nadu CM Helpline FAQ, questions 6, 13, 16 and 20.
Official step
cmcell@tn.gov.in — the CM Helpline cell
Email is one of the five channels the Helpline itself publishes, and it is the only one that leaves you a written record with a date on it. Each button opens Gmail in a new tab with the text already written, and CCs the official cell.

Three documents sit behind these two grievances. Open one to read it, or save it to your phone — they are published exactly as they stand, with nothing removed.

What was reported
The grievance records carry the deaths as figures. Newspapers carry them as names. Here is what was printed, in the papers' own words, with the link to each report so you can read it yourself.

Gudalur sits where Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka meet, on a corridor that runs through 31 villages and more than 2,500 households. Forest staff walk these roads at night, on foot, pushing elephants back. Over 500 movement alerts were generated between January and June this year.

After the fourteen-year-old was killed in Gudalur, the Nilgiris Collector met officials of several departments and ordered that compensation to the family be paid quickly. This site does not publish a status for any grievance. This one is in the newspaper, so it is here with its source.
Read the reportEvery one of these reports names a place in Gudalur, and every one of them ends the same way — a name, a family, a compensation figure or a review meeting. None of them ends with the conflict being over. The permanent answer has not been given yet. It has to be asked for, and it has to be followed up.
